Financial report for 2008

  • 25 local artisans benefited from a €34,621 direct subsidy on the " Boutiques du Rocher ". The Foundation's total contribution was €79,931. The remainder of the support was to compensate the salaries of the sales and the brodeuse.
  • On the cultural front the Foundation expended €116,413 overall. Of this €11,300 was spent on bourses for qualified students. Elsewhere the Foundation underwrote three apprentices of the Aspen Music School in the USA to the tune of €18,310 and the scholars of the " Académie de Musique Rainier III " for €30,000. Further to this there was a subvention of €5,000 for " la première rampe", young circus acts, and €8,500 for local French schools. Together with the " Fondation Prince Pierre " the Foundation participated in the organisation of the " Grand Prix d'Art Contemporain" for an amount of €25,420. The Foundation gave a direct contribution of €12,000 for the Bourse de la Découverte to the young writer Cécile Reyboz.

  • As a natural consequence, in 2008, humanitarian action has become the principal activity of the Foundation.

  • The Foundation has again expanded its activities in reaction to an increasing number of French hospitals. Assistance was offered to over 1000 childen in 46 hospitals, this at a cost of €132,518. At the heart of these hospitals our Foundation underwrote equipment which helps to alleviate their comfort. We also helped subsidise clowns, artistic endeavours, cinema and especially holidays " à la carte ", this for a total of €30,600. We have also directly helped families of handicapped children in adapting to their kids to the extent of €24,500.
  • The Foundation partly financed the renovation of two Parents Houses in 2008. In Angers Hospital (€60,000 in 2007-08) and in Bicêtre Hospital (€58,450). Also, during this period, " La Maison du Petit Monde " in Lyon Hospitals, built with the aid of the Foundation's funds, was inaugurated.
  • The Foundation was also involved in helping with the rent of parents with long term children in Necker Hospital in Paris (€4,000).
  • As concerns paediatric research 6 medical laboratories have received support to the extent of €259,250 with particular emphasis placed on improving research equipment (€188,350).
  • At Christmastime the Foundation, through the operation " Geste de Noel " provided financial assistance to 13 local associations including Mission Enfance and Jeune J'écoute. The contribution was €24,000.
  • In the international sphere the Foundation has been active in assisting: the orphanage Rainier III in Madagascar (€2,500), the association " Aviation sans Frontières " bringing children from Africa and South-East Asia to undergo operations in European hospitals (€3,300), an operation of a young Georgian girl (€5,288), an educational facility for Algerian midwives (€9,500), the association " Aide et Action " for the education of young Vietnamese children (€15,000), investment to improve the equipment for two Indian paediatric hospitals (€25,000).
